An estate agent falsely suspected of murdering hunter Massoulier and his wife Marie-Christine. After his wife admits to an affair and is killed, Julien evades capture with his lawyer's help. He is eventually arrested after Barbara's intervention but is exonerated when the lawyer confesses. He marries Barbara at the end.
