Sadie's grandfather and the owner of the fishing trawler Harbinger. He facilitates the research expedition and initially claims ownership of the crashed Soviet lander before yielding to Sadie. Later, he becomes infected by the mutated tardigrades after the creature consumes a crab catch. He directs the survivors to escape and requests to be killed to prevent further infection.
