Twin brothers who move into the Spiderwick estate. Jared discovers Arthur's Field Guide, gains the ability to see fairies, and leads the search to rescue his abducted twin Simon and stop the villain Mulgarath. Simon is kidnapped by goblins, released to retrieve the book, and joins his brother in the final confrontation.
