An experienced trail boss who finishes a cattle drive and books an entire hotel wing. After losing his funds in poker, he reluctantly accepts Frank Harris as a 50/50 partner for the next drive. Initially harsh toward his inexperienced companion, Reece gradually respects him. He repeatedly saves Harris, including from a Comanche ambush and a dangerous cattle car, and later mentors him after recovering from a knee wound.
