An orphaned boy who lives with his aunt and dislikes her fiancé. He meets horse center owner Alfred Teichmann, whose group he joins after singing. Despite Teichmann's advice to become a singer, Heintje dreams of being a jockey. After a dispute and being sent to a foster home, he runs away to follow Teichmann. During his journey, he accidentally gets entangled with smugglers carrying radioactive cobalt, leading to a kidnapping. He is eventually rescued, and Teichmann and Hanna decide to adopt him.
