A struggling performer stranded in a storm who is rescued by Boris and taken to an inn. He is kidnapped by the delusional innkeeper M. Bartel, forced to dress as Bartel's deceased wife Gloria, and subjected to psychological and physical torment. He eventually escapes into the forest, survives the night, and witnesses a villager drown in a bog.
Boris acts as the initial savior who provides Marc with refuge from the harsh elements.
