A McGill University graduate student researching Newfoundland's 1949 confederation. Disheartened by her advisors, she returns home and investigates a historical conspiracy. She discovers incriminating cheque stubs and letters in a journalist's office, confronts her father about the deception, and ultimately secures the original proof of the altered referendum results.
