A young American captain with a wartime prosthetic leg. He visits as Mr. John's cousin, becoming the object of affection for Harriet, Valerie, and Melanie. He bonds with Melanie, shares a kiss with Valerie, and later rescues and comforts a guilt-ridden Harriet.
