The protagonist and an actor preparing a stage show about Victor Hugo. After learning of the death of his former partner, he suspects his estranged daughter Lisbeth left a newspaper for him. He eventually reunites with Lisbeth, takes her and her boyfriend to Guernsey to visit Hugo's house, and successfully rescues them from a windsurfing accident.
