Jade's controlling father who strongly disapproves of David, fearing he will ruin Jade's academic future. He isolates Jade at a lake house, intimidates David, and lies about their breakup. His obsessive interference, including a physical confrontation that accidentally starts a house fire, ultimately backfires. He eventually saves David's life, accepts their relationship, and amicably separates from his wife Anne.
