Ennui-afflicted heir to a deposed throne who returns to West London. Initially an emotionally detached ornithologist observing neighbors through a spyglass, he is stirred by the plight of the working-class residents. After discovering he is the slum's landlord, he transforms from a passive liberal idealist into a reluctant revolutionary, rallying locals to burn his own mansion.
