A Roman general and triumvir who abandons his political duties in Rome for love with Cleopatra. He marries Octavia to secure peace but later reunites with Cleopatra, leading to civil war. After a disastrous naval defeat at Actium and a subsequent land battle, he takes his own life and dies in Cleopatra's arms.
