The conservative husband of Marie-Joséphine and a stern nobleman. He strictly forbids his wife's stage career, violently beats Saint-Georges for dishonoring his family, and orders the execution of their child. He later attempts to arrest Saint-Georges at his concert but is thwarted by the crowd.
