A wounded Confederate captain initially defended by Belle. He marries her, leads a Missouri rebellion, and descends into violent criminal expeditions with the Cole brothers. He ultimately places Belle's ring on her finger after her death, falsely believing his lieutenant was responsible for the shooting.
