German U-boat commander tasked with spying on the Grand Fleet at Scapa Flow. He infiltrates the Orkney Islands to meet his contact, only to discover she is a British double agent. After escaping capture, he hijacks a ferry with German POWs, only to be destroyed by his own submarine's first officer. He ultimately chooses to go down with his ship.
