A compulsive gambler and performer on a Mississippi Riverboat casino. Down on his luck, he becomes convinced a red-haired woman brings him luck after a gypsy fortune telling. He tests this theory with Nellie Bly, wins money, and clashes with his girlfriend Frankie. During a masked ball scheme, he is accidentally shot with a real bullet but survives because a lucky medallion from Frankie protects him.
