Encountered in New Mexico, he proposes a cross-country race to Washington D.C. for car ownership. Picks up several hitchhikers, forms an uneasy alliance with the Driver and Mechanic, and temporarily yields the wheel when fatigued. Later leaves the Girl at a diner and boasts about winning his car.
