The protagonist who bullied deaf transfer student Shouko Nishimiya in elementary school. After being framed and ostracized, he becomes a depressed loner seeking redemption. He reconciles with Shouko, reconnects with old friends, sacrifices himself to save Shouko from suicide, awakens from a coma, apologizes, and finds social and personal redemption.
