Shambhu's young son who secretly stows away on the train to Calcutta. He befriends a local shoe-shiner, tries to earn money by shining shoes, falls ill, and eventually turns to pickpocketing out of desperation. He destroys stolen money after witnessing his mother's tragic accident.
