A skilled samurai who assassinates Lady Renko on orders. Sentenced to house arrest, he is later appointed as Lord Ukyo's bodyguard by Tsuda. He duels and kills the rebellious commander Obiya, but is betrayed by Tsuda and surrounded by samurai. Mortally wounded, he uses his signature unblockable technique, the Sword of Desperation, to kill Tsuda before dying peacefully. He is Rio's uncle.
