A photographer who discovers she has breast cancer and undergoes a mastectomy. She struggles with post-surgery self-consciousness and hides her vulnerability from her daughter, Nina. Clare uses Nina as her primary model for a successful gallery show, leading to tension and a falling out. Later, she confronts her own body through mirror self-portraits and ultimately reconciles with Nina in her darkroom.
Clare is Nina's biological mother and primary caregiver.
