A University of California, Los Angeles graduate visiting Cairo. He falls in love with Hanan, disregarding his mother Margaret's disapproval, and marries her quickly. He initially clashes with Hanan over her corruption investigation but they reconcile. He joins her in investigating her exiled brother, a terrorist, and dies alongside her in a shootout.
