A penniless cavalry captain who, after being rejected by Margery, uses his charm and wit to become London's fashion arbiter and the Prince of Wales's favorite. His arrogance leads to a falling out with the Prince, resulting in financial ruin, exile to Calais, and eventual death in a prison hospital with deteriorated sanity.
