Main protagonist. Initially an outspoken atheist who survives a car crash and near-death experience. After hallucinating his deceased son and awakening, he struggles with science versus faith. He converts to Christianity, rekindles his relationship with ex-wife Katy, proposes to her, and launches a global peace campaign. He holds her as she dies from terminal cancer.
Formerly married, they share a history and two surviving sons.
