U.S. soldier and close friend of Bartle from a middle-class Virginia family. He dreams of attending the University of Virginia after his service but is psychologically broken by the horrors of the Iraq War. After developing a secret attraction to a female medic, he wanders off during a patrol and disappears, later found dead and mutilated. His body is secretly disposed of by Bartle and Sterling to spare his mother the trauma.
