The central protagonist, a boy born with a severely compromised immune system who must live in a sterile plastic chamber. As a teenager, he yearns for normalcy, attends school remotely and later in-person with protective gear, and falls in love with his neighbor Gina. Ultimately, he risks his life by stepping outside his bubble to be with her.
