Lucilla's former classmate who enlists in the Bersaglieri and later becomes an Arditi officer. He collaborates with the Colonel to organize an Italian espionage network against the Austrian occupiers. He ultimately leads the cavalry unit that successfully rescues Lucilla from execution.
