A wounded Soviet soldier tasked with guarding stolen paintings in an abandoned church. He refuses to surrender the crates without documentation and single-handedly eliminates German soldiers who discover the artwork. He is ultimately shot by a surviving looter while trying to save the paintings from a fire.
