Wife of Captain Chris Baldry. Initially preoccupied with domestic war rationing, she is humiliated and hurt when Chris returns with shell-shock and focuses on his former working-class love, Margaret. She reluctantly agrees to therapy but desperately wants him cured to return to his pre-war authoritative self, only to realize his healing comes at the cost of his return to the front.
