Out-of-work private detective hired by Hiram Brighton to watch his daughter Phyllis. Refuses to help Larry Kincaid, later stages a fake kidnapping in the woods to scare Phyllis away from Harry Grange. Gets framed for Grange's murder, but eventually solves the case and traps the real culprit, Elliott Thomas.
