King Arthur's most valued Knight of the Round Table who defeats Leodogran's champion to enable the king's marriage to Guinevere. He foils Modred's assassination attempt, falls in love with Guinevere, and becomes her secret lover. After being exposed and banished, he returns to save her from execution, later defeats the traitorous Modred to end the civil war, and finds Guinevere in a convent.
