Nagaraju is Malliswari's cross-cousin and childhood friend who deeply loves her. Rejected by her mother due to poverty, he leaves his village to become a successful sculptor in Vijayanagara. Upon returning, he reunites with Malliswari after she is forced into the palace's Rani Vasam tradition. He secretly meets her at the Tungabhadra River, is captured by soldiers, and faces execution alongside her. Ultimately, his loyalty and the king's mercy lead to their forgiveness and grand marriage.
