A cowboy who unknowingly encounters an outlaw gang's hideout. After a shootout, he and Wes become fugitives. They take a farmer hostage, but after the farmer wounds Vern, Wes kills him. Vern dies from his injuries, sacrificing himself to hold off the pursuing posse so Wes can escape.
