A member of the Sonobe family taking refuge in Hokkaido in August 1945. She refuses an arranged marriage with Goichi Takamori, a war criminal and the mayor's son, which sparks the villagers' hostility. Her subsequent attack by Goichi triggers a chain of events leading to a tragic massacre.
