A man fleeing New York City to avoid a warrant, which he later reveals is merely to force him to testify in a friend's divorce. While hiding in a remote cabin, he mistakes Millicent Kendall for a process server, forces her to burn a marriage license, and takes her shoe to prevent her escape. He accidentally scares off lawmen searching for a real fugitive, eventually confessing the truth to Millicent, who falls in love with him.
