Marsha's wealthy, jealous, and much-older husband. Upon discovering her affair with the sheriff and her interest in the hitchhiker, he kills Marsha in a jealous, drunken rage. Later, after the sheriff's blackmail scheme unfolds, Sam kills the sheriff and confesses to both murders.
