The protagonist, a middle-class man who isolates himself in his house, destroys his furniture, and descends into paranoia. As resources dwindle, he consumes non-food items and animals, kills a television repossession agent and a concerned friend, and ultimately encases himself and his friend in a freezer while experiencing hallucinatory spatial distortions.
