The local garrison commander who later becomes a Colonel. He advises Aylward to leave during early crises, returns to prepare for war, and shares a romantic bond with her. During the evacuation, he warns of Japanese road control, provides a mountain map, gives her a ring, and expresses confidence in her safe return.
