A destitute Belgian orphan adopted by Jocko. He grows up to become a professional boxer, risking his health to win a title fight for Jocko's financial salvation. After recovering from a shoulder injury, he develops romantic feelings for Mary, leaves home, and later serves as a soldier in WWII.
