An American student studying Victorian poetry at Oxford. She enters a casual romance with Jamie, discovers his terminal genetic cancer, and stays in England to support him. After initially leaving for America post-graduation, she reconciles with Jamie, teaches his former class, and travels Europe alone following his death.
