An insurance salesman who falls for Phyllis and conspires to murder her husband to trigger a double indemnity clause. He stages the death as a train accident but is investigated by claims manager Barton Keyes. After Phyllis shoots him, Neff shoots her dead, then records a dictaphone confession to Keyes before collapsing in his office.
