Hot-tempered and arrogant older brother. He makes unwanted advances toward Clee, resents Paul's talent, and accidentally kills him off a cliff while chasing a white mare. After being falsely acquitted due to Sieverts' testimony, he shoots Sieverts, escapes jail by killing a deputy, and is ultimately shot and killed by his own father during a deadly standoff.
