An egocentric and underemployed lawyer from Irvine, initially sent to New Mexico by his sister to find recipes for their failing family restaurant chain. After a car impoundment forces him to stay, he falls in love with chef Javiera Torres and her daughter Sophia. Though he initially exploits her green chili recipe to save his family business, he eventually quits his job, returns to apologize, and builds a genuine life with them.
They start as mutual adversaries due to clashing personalities and initial misunderstandings.
