A federal scientist who initially diagnoses the deadly XB virus. He is paired with Jeff Adams and travels back to 1871 Chicago to find a historical cure. He poses as a physician, falls in love with Dr. Henderson's niece, contracts the virus, and ultimately discovers the cure lies in elderberry wine. He returns to the present and survives due to the cure.
