Day is the protagonist, a photographer trapped in a drained pool with his pregnant girlfriend Koi and their dog, Lucky. He battles extreme heat, dehydration, and a lack of insulin while attempting to escape the drain system and survive attacks from a crocodile. Despite severe injuries including a broken leg and lacerated hands, he uses resourcefulness to kill the reptile and rescue Koi before drowning.
