The ruling abbess of a nearby convent who covets the holy relic. She tracks Agnes using monks and carrier pigeons, manipulates Brother Johannes to orchestrate Risbiter's murder, and tortures Agnes to force her into taking monastic vows. Her authority is destroyed when Gabriel leads a peasant uprising that burns down the monastery.
