Harry's best friend and fellow officer who travels to Sudan. During a battle, he is blinded by a misfiring rifle and rescued by Harry, who remains anonymous. Sent back to England, Jack proposes to Harry's former fiancée but later learns Harry's true identity, releasing her from their engagement.
