Initially Pharaoh Rameses I who orders the death of Hebrew infants, he later appears as Rameses II, Moses's adoptive brother. He banishes Moses, endures the plagues, loses his heir, reluctantly frees the Hebrews, and pursues them to the Red Sea. His army is destroyed, leaving him to acknowledge the Hebrew God.
