Retired widower and former successful dye manufacturer. Initially rejected by his sons and daughters-in-law due to his pipe smoking, he is sent to a nursing home. Later, he heads a new dye works funded by his daughter's inheritance and fiancé's technology, bailing out his sons' company and changing their attitudes.
