German scientist and Gerran's deputy. He secretly orchestrates the expedition's disasters as the anonymous mastermind Zelda. He provides Lansing with a fake rifle, directs his neo-Nazi accomplices, and attempts to flee with the gold. He is ultimately killed by Lansing.
